Arlene obtained both a Masters degree in Biochemistry & Biomedical Sciences, and an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in genetics, from McMaster University. In addition to working as a laboratory technician for the department of Biology at McMaster University, Arlene is on the board of directors for both the non-profit organization infectiontips.org, and infectioncontrol.tips, and is also a co-editor at infectioncontrol.tips. Arlene's scientific interests include antimicrobial resistance, disease prevention, and epidemiology. When she is not at her lab bench, she can be found spending time with her pets, as she is an avid animal lover. As well, she enjoys travelling, especially to anywhere with a lagoon, and is passionate about trying new foods and wines.
