Hefa is currently a member of the Papua New Guinea Medical Society. With 4 years of experience in teaching pharmacology at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Papua New Guinea, she joins us as our engagement coordinator for Papua New Guinea. Most recently, she has trained students in research methodologies and skills required for extraction of phytochemicals and antimicrobial screening of plant extracts to validate their traditional use in treating infectious diseases. Her research project since 2013 on natural products from fungal endophytes and their antimicrobial activity was funded by the Papua New Guinea Office of Higher Education Science and Technology Research grant 2013.
