Dr Mahdiyeh Hasani obtained her BSc in Food Science and Technology from Gorgan University and MSc in Agriculture Engineering from the University of Tabriz. She retuned to Gorgan University and obtained her PhD in Food Materials and Process Design Engineering in 2019. Dr Hasani held a lectureship in Food Science at Azad University prior to becoming a post-doctoral scholar within the University of Guelph funded under the Mitac Elevate program. Her research focused on developing novel decontamination treatments based on hydroxyl-radical and ozone technologies. She was awarded the University of Guelph Innovation of the Year and Mitacs-IRAP award for commercialization in 2020 for her work on disinfection of personal protective equipment. Dr Hasani continues to work on intervention technologies and process engineering in the food & health care sectors.
