Canada

  1. Allergen: undeclared almonds in Cape Cod Cranberry Candy and Harvest Sweets brand Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate & Yogurt Covered Cranberries. Distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.
  1. Microbiological: Listeria monocytogenes in certain Dole brand pre-packaged chopped salads, salad blends and kits and leafy greens and certain PC Organics brand leafy greens. Distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and possibly Nationwide.
  1. Allergen: undeclared egg in Certain Ocean Food brand seafood products. Distributed in Ontario, Quebec, and possibly Nationwide.
  2. Allergen: undeclared sesame in Merilin brand Curry Powder. Distributed in Ontario and Quebec.

United States of America

  1. Morphine in various all lots of Master Herbs, Inc. Licorice Coughing Liquid. Distributed in California, New Jersey, Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio, and Nevada.
  1. Microbiological: Salmonella in Mahina Mele Farms, LLC Izzie Macs! Macadamia Nuts, Bulk Macadamia nuts, Baby Bruddah’s Chocolate Mac Nut Buttah, and Baby Bruddah’s Mac Nut Buttah. Distributed in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maryland, and Virginia.
  1. Allergen: undeclared sulfites and colors in AA USA Trading Inc. dried kiwi and dried mango. Distributed in New York and New Jersey.
  1. Microbiological: Listeria monocytogenes in  Dole-branded and private label packaged salads processed at its Springfield, Ohio production facility with a product code beginning with the letter ‘A.’ Voluntary withdrawal in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

After completing her B. Sc. in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, she stayed at McMaster University to pursue a Ph.D. where she studied the effects of small-molecules on Listeria monocytogenes biofilm development in collaboration with the CFIA. Following a brief stint as a Post-doc, she is currently a R&D Microbiologist at a pharmaceutical company and a Freelance Academic Proofreader for Crimson-Enago. She has received numerous awards and scholarships including the Faculty of Health Sciences Graduate Programs Outstanding Thesis Awards, Ontario Graduate Fellowship, Fred and Helen Knight Enrichment Award. Outside of science, she loves travelling and exploring new places as well as creating and experimenting with desserts.
