The Infection Prevention Strategy (TIPS) is proud to launch its second in a series of studies to evaluate the latest innovations in infection prevention and control. TIPS is dedicated to not only presenting the latest information, but also putting new technologies to the test to evaluate their real-world potential.

TIPS has created a model of information-sharing that makes the process of vetting new technologies, implementing successful programs and inspiring innovation more efficient, more accessible, more global and more collaborative. Known as TIPS Sudden Science, the program is driven by our firm belief that we should not have to wait years for promising innovations, ideas and processes to be implemented and accepted. Around the world, our teams develop trials and conduct pilot studies to aid in the discovery of successful research to market technological advancements.

This real-world trial is one step in the vetting and feedback process to ensure that the innovators are considering the end users in their product design.

Why TIPS is testing this product:

FloorX is an innovative, floor-based UV sanitization tool that prevents the transfer of harmful pathogens between rooms. The system rests on the floor, and disinfects a person’s shoes using UV-C in just 10 seconds. This has been shown to reduce the number of microbes by 94% in multiple studies.

TIPS has committed to a further set of three major peer-reviewed scientific studies with Harbor Innovations to validate the contamination removal claims and overall efficacy through our Sudden Science program.

To be adopted in their intended facilities, devices need to be optimized for real-world use. The best technologies can be rendered useless if they are not developed with the end-user in mind.

This trial will employ the FloorX system in various healthcare locations and will collect user experience feedback to further enhance this tool’s ability to reduce the transfer of disease.

DETAILS ABOUT THIS TRIAL OPPORTUNITY:

TIPS and Harbor Innovations will cover the costs to implement all FloorX systems at sites that are chosen for the Sudden Science program. Participating sites will receive discounted FloorX systems at the termination of the 90 day trial period, should they wish to purchase it. Although we appreciate all applications, only those with appropriate facilities will be considered. Select users from each site will be asked to fill out questionnaires based on their experience prior to and following the trial period. Floorx
