Dr. Ari Frenkel, is an infectious disease physician, who has implemented programs to reduce the overuse of antibiotics across hospital systems. Facilities who worked with Dr. Frenkel saw dramatically reduced antibiotic usage which translated into a significant improvement in patient outcomes. Seeing the real-world benefits of a properly administered antimicrobial stewardship program, but recognizing the limits of manual processes, led Dr. Frenkel to co-found Arkstone Medical Solutions, with a goal of using technology to broaden the reach and effectiveness of antimicrobial stewardship programs. Dr. Frenkel, is now Arkstone’s Chief Science Officer and is a board-certified internal medicine and infectious disease physician. His journey began upstate New York, where he was a resident in internal medicine at United Health Service Hospitals, Johnson City. After becoming a chief resident and receiving a technology award he moved onto his infectious disease fellowship at East Carolina University in North Carolina. Prior to the start of Arkstone, he has had successful private practices in Florence, Alabama, and served as medical director and infectious disease medical director for various hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and corporation-owned multi-hospital systems.
